St John’s Church, Harpenden - Play & Praise

"It's church, Jim, but not as we know it!"

Play & Praise imageImagine, if you will, a church without pews, where half the congregation sit on the floor. A church where it is perfectly acceptable to wander around if you feel like a wriggle. A church where a shared party tea is essential. A church where people from eight months to eighty make a joyful noise to the Lord. A church which prays together, laughs together and gets gluey together. A church centred around the story of Jesus and care for each other.

Play & Praise image

You've just imagined Play and Praise.

Set up particularly for young families who may find coming to the main Sunday service difficult or daunting, Play and Praise meets at 4pm on the second Sunday of the month in St John's Church Hall. We share crafts, worship and tea in an informal atmosphere. Play & Praise imageThrough our time together we hope to share the Christian story, not only with the children, but also to provide some time for quiet reflection for the adults. As a 'church' fellowship is integral to our activity, offering a space to share the joys and sorrows of everyday life.

Whether you have recently had a child baptised or would like support in introducing the Christian faith to your family, we would be delighted to welcome you to Play and Praise - just turn up and join in!

We meet at 4pm on the second Sunday from February to November inclusive.
