St John's has long had a strong musical tradition.
Our voluntary adult choir of some twenty mixed voices sings a wide range of music (with a repertoire drawn from a period spanning the sixteenth century to the present day) at the weekly Parish Communion.
They also sing at the full Choral Evensong on the first Sunday of alternate months and members sing at other festival services here and elsewhere.
The organ has recently undergone a complete restoration, incorporating a good many tonal enhancements and registrational aids. It is now one of the most exciting and versatile instruments in the area for both choral accompaniment and solo repertoire.
The church boasts a very fine acoustic and is often used for concerts.
Music also plays an important role for our Junior Church, who often sing for the congregation on special occasions.
